The Gayatri aarti invokes Gayatri Devi (Savitri), the solar deity of the Rigvedic Gayatri mantra (Rig Veda 3.62.10). The five stanzas praise her as the mother of the Vedas, the source of all wisdom, and the giver of light to the intellect. It is recited during the three Sandhya (twilight) periods and on special occasions of learning.
