Navagraha Shanti Puja honours the nine planetary deities (Surya, Chandra, Mangala, Budha, Guru, Shukra, Shani, Rahu and Ketu). Each is invoked in turn with its own offering and mantra, and the rite closes with a havan.

- Navagraha Shanti Puja honours the nine grahas to bring balance and harmony during planetary periods that an astrologer reads as difficult.
- It is also done as a general invocation of the nine before a housewarming, wedding or new business, so the new beginning is made under their favour.
- Through it the family receives the grace of the nine grahas and the peace that follows.
