Griha Pravesh is the housewarming ceremony performed when a family first enters a new home. A priest leads a puja, usually with a havan, and the family begins living in the house after prayer.

- Griha Pravesh purifies the house, invites prosperity and brings the blessings of the deities on the people who live there.
- Often combined with Vastu Shanti.
- A home entered with prayer, an invocation of Ganesha and a lit lamp begins its life under divine protection.

- Done at an auspicious time (muhurta) chosen before the family moves in.
- Weekdays usually preferred: Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday.
- Nakshatras often chosen include Rohini, Mrigashira, Pushya, Hasta, Anuradha.
- The exact date and time come from the panchang for your city, so ask your priest or astrologer to confirm.
