Griha Pravesh Muhurat is the auspicious date and time chosen for a family to first enter and occupy their new home. It involves a ceremony that includes Ganesh puja, a havan, and prayers to Vastu Purusha for prosperity and protection in the new home.
Pushya nakshatra is considered the best for Griha Pravesh in most traditions. Rohini, Uttara Phalguni, Hasta, and Anuradha are also highly auspicious for house-warming ceremonies.
Griha Pravesh during Ashada, Bhadrapada, and Ashwin (roughly July–October) is traditionally avoided in many North Indian traditions. However, some regional traditions and individual muhurta analyses may permit it with the right nakshatra, tithi, and planetary positions.
